Chapter 2
Meanwhile, in an estate at about two kilometres from Kemi's house lived two young couples, engaged to be married.
Ore, a dark young lady with hair that looked like lucky dube's and skin as white as snow is seen shouting.
"Ehm, omo nna, can't you just let me be?, am I your maid?."
"I thought you don't speak Yoruba, and how many times have I warned you never to call me that?."
Chuks, a handsome young man in his early thirties is seen looking at his laptop furiously, trying to concentrate on the presentations he has at work the next day. He looked fair, almost like an oyibo man and had a pointed nose too. If you were not careful, you would call him a white man. Beards filled most of his face and he had what Yorubas called eji, a gap in the middle of his two lower incisors. Most people have theirs on their upper incisors.
"Look, Ore, it's not my fault our parents want us to get married, it is also not my fault that our parents have dumped us here to rot, I'm not okay with it, neither are you so it's either we cooperate or..", he gave a mock laugh before he added, "mmadu a nwo neba."
"Ehn, kiloso, what did you just say?."
He laughed at her, its really fun watching her. He had lived in this part of the country all his life so he speaks both Igbo and Yoruba. He feels Ore is a spoilt brat who needs to be taught a lesson, while Ore, on the other hand, feels he is a crazy Igbo man who is all about money and nothing else.
Chuks was about saying something when he heard a knock at the door. He had a startling look on his face, it couldn't be her parents, she had warned them never to set foot here and as for his parents, they like the word 'Privacy' and they wouldn't want to invade theirs.
"Won't you check?"
"Would something happen to you if you do?" She asked rolling her eyes.
Wicked thoughts clouded his brain. One day I am going to pluck those eyes, cook it and send it to her parents. Just because she wasn't trained well doesn't mean I'd have to put up with her attitude. I hate her guts and I can't believe I'd be staying with her for six good months. He thought.
Shaking his head in pity, he stood up, walked towards the door and opened it.
"Hello sir, you ordered pizza."
A petite looking guy with a face as though he had not eaten for days smiled as he raised the pizza to his face.
"I did not order that, you must be mistaken."
Before the pizza guy could reply, he heard Ore's voice behind him
"I did." She said, walking past him to the delivery guy.
"Thank you, dear." She smiled.
Chuks had never seen her smile. The first and only time was when they had first met, it drew him to her, he thought she was an angel. That was months ago, right now, she's nothing but a disaster.
He sighed and went back to what he was doing. Tomorrow is a big day for him and he wouldn't allow anyone ruin it, not even his 'darling future wife'.
